Printing with animals

For the last few days I have been in Exton, Pennsylvania at Brilliant Graphics for the press run of Willard Pate's with animals from BazanPhotos Publishing. Willard and I met in Cuba about 10 years ago at one of Ernesto Bazan's photographic workshops and I am privileged to have designed her book with Ernesto. She has a persistently good eye and continues to create great images on black-and-white film. We have been able to accomplish a great deal on press from great silver gelatin prints, a rarity these days. Having worked with printers and photographers it is encouraging how the two disciplines bring out the best in one another. The combination of analog and digital can create the best photographic objects.
