I am a documentary photographer and graphic designer who focuses on photo books. I graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans and completed an MFA in Computer Art at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
This website is the central repository for my creative efforts and often includes the behind the scenes stories of what I'm working on.
My favorite projects are photobooks, combining my love of photography and my knowledge of design and print production. Every book presents its own challenges, and I love collaborating with photographers to turn their personal vision into a beautiful and meaningful object.
My photography focuses on documenting communities through their culture and life experiences. I generally work on long term projects. To create a portrait of Pittsburgh, I photographed the Steeler Nation from 2004 to 2011. Ongoing bodies of work include: Cuba, Latin America, a surgical mission, my family, and still lifes. I am currently working on a project about New Orleans and its Mardi Gras culture.
I learned to craft black and white images using film and have stuck with the same principles with digital photography.
I consult on creative projects of all sorts for small businesses, non-profit organizations, artists, and select individuals.
I currently live in Austin, Texas and frequently visit New Orleans.
